This painting marks the beginning of what would later become a three-piece series exploring the stylish, effortless riding of Kevin Bäckström (KB). Created at a moment when the artist simply wanted to unleash on a canvas, the piece is infused with raw energy — thick layers of paint, sweeping brushstrokes, and bold textures that mirror the dynamism of KB’s riding itself.

In this preliminary study, KB is captured mid frontside 360, floating with that signature blend of power and looseness that makes his style so instantly recognisable. The swirling, moody background amplifies the motion, turning the scene into an eruption of instinct and athleticism.

Painted in 2021, this work has remained unseen until now — and this is the first time it has been made available. As the origin point of a larger series, it stands as both a standalone expression of movement and a window into the evolution of Leonard’s snowboard portraiture.
